Project Engineer
Position Title: Project Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Dept. / Location: Engineering / Houston
Position Summary:
The position has responsibility for coordination and execution of all technical activities for assigned projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Generon-IGS standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between other departments, including Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing. This may also include day-to-day interaction with the Client or a designated representative to ensure all internal activities are performed timely and appropriately.
The position is responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned activities within the scope of the project meet the requirements of the Contract being satisfied. The Project Engineer is expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in the various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
The Project Engineer retains the overall accountability for relationship management and Client satisfaction on the project.
Typical Duties:
Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation of the following:
- Work with Sales and/or Client to verify and approve project specifications.
- Establish project schedules and ensure that drawings, bills of material, and work instructions are supplied to the manufacturing shop.
- Utilize manufacturing software to initiate Material Lists, Work Orders, Procurement documents, and Project Schedules.
- Execute all drawings and work instructions to complete individual projects; from Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, through structure and piping details, through final assemblies and closeout documentation.
- Monitor project budget.
- Prepare semi-monthly status reports and change orders.
- Participate in plant-wide Safety and Cost Reduction programs.
Education/Experience/Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline preferred.
- AutoCAD highly desirable.
- Experience in working with multiple discipline tasks or projects.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

- Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to and visit a Client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
